That is so sad. I predict we will see calls for the minimum age for racing (of all types) to be raised. While this is unfortunate, I think ANDRA has the right approach to their licensing requirements. As RR said: "RIP little racer girl".

Yes, their approach is respectable, but 8 is too young. IMO. Start them off in karts at about 9-10 and work up from there.

She was doing drag racing.. According to the regs speeds were limited to about 40mph.

It's not the speed that concerns me that much. It's the 8 years old part. The kid probably just learned how to ride a bike two years ago.

With all due respect, I was riding sleds at that age. Snowmobiles are a damn sight more dangerous than dragster. Not a good thing, but when it's your time, it's your time. We don't determine the outcome, the guy upstairs does.
